Support our new project Belonging

We need your support to realise our new project Belonging, which aims to raise community awareness and understanding of the unique lived experience of biracial and bicultural Australians and the intersectional issues they face regarding their sense of belonging and inclusion due to public misconceptions surrounding their ethnicity and culture and how this has shaped their experiences of aging, disability, gender, sexuality and socioeconomic contribution.

The photographic exhibition creates a strong foundation for a subsequent larger Belonging project which will reiterate the images and narratives collected during its production into 3 publications: a photo book with quotes from the participants, a children’s picture book, and an adult non-fiction book of self-narratives.

MUTTI supports the call for biracial awareness, understanding, and tolerance, as biracial and bicultural children are our most powerful examples of how love conquers all. If you would like further information about participating or donating to the Belonging project, please contact us directly.

“While we celebrate the lives of migrants to Australia, there is little acknowledgement of those who find love and have children with people from a different cultural , ethnic or religious background to themselves. As a child of mixed heritage, I can become an object of curiosity, having to explain that I am not adopted or that one of my parents is not kidnapping me”

- Krystal, Belonging participant
